Xeriscaping
What is Xeriscaping?

Xeriscaping (ˈzerəˌskāp-ing) is a way to design gardens and yards that save water. It uses plants that don't need a lot of water to grow. Instead of grass, which needs a lot of water, xeriscaping uses plants that can survive with less water. It's good for the environment and saves money on water bills.
Steps to Start Your Xeriscaping Journey
01
Planning
Think about how you want your new yard to look and we will help you choose plants that don't need lots of water.
02
Remove Grass
Using various methods your grass will be removed from the areas you want Xeriscaped.
03
Improve Soil
Test your soil to see if it needs anything added to it, like compost or special dirt, to help plants grow better.
04
Install Watering System
Consider installing a drip irrigation system or soaker hoses to efficiently water your xerscaped garden.
05
Plant Drought Tolerant Plants
Choose native or adapted plants that require less water to thrive. Plant them according to your planned design and spacing requirements.
06
Mulch
Apply a layer of mulch, such as wood chips or gravel, around the plants to retain moisture, and stop weeds from growing.
07
Water Efficiently
Water the newly planted xeriscape garden deeply but infrequently to encourage deep root growth and drought tolerance.
08
Maintain
Keep an eye on your garden. Pull out any weeds, trim the plants when needed, and make sure they're getting enough water.
